The port city of Bodrum is located on the southwest coast of Turkey the Aegean Sea and belongs to the province of Mugla.The city has about 35,000 inhabitants (2011), but in summer the population is increasing significantly – as countless tourists come to town.
Most people come here for sun and beach holiday, Bodrum has many inviting sandy beaches and crystal clear water.
From the port is a ferry connection to the Greek island of Kos, and it is popular for tourists to take a day trip here. Kos is located only 20 km as the crow flies from Bodrum and Kos Town is the time for shopping and sights, before taking the ferry back to Bodrum.
A landmark of Bodrum is St. Peter Borg from the 1400s, located on a rocky peninsula. Here you can visit Underwater Museum – where exciting Exhibitions of old shipwrecks and archaeological artifacts found on the seabed.
Other tourist attractions include Bodrum Old Town – with lively and colourful outlets, Mausoleum from year 335 BC Kr. – Formerly known as one of the world’s seven wonders.
The finest beaches in the area is located in Gumbet, about 4 km west of Bodrum. Many tourists seek them here, and here, it is also good selection of cafés, restaurants and shops. Gümbet also has a great beach promenade.
The nearest airport is Milas – Bodrum Airport, located 37 km northeast of the center of Bodrum.
