Qawra is a small town in Malta’s north coast, which lies about 16 km from the capital Valletta.It is grown samman with the neighboring towns of St. Paul’s Bay and Bugibba, and the three currently represents one unit. The total metropolitan area is home to around 14,000 people (2010) – but the tourist season the population sixfold.
Qawra is primarily a seaside resort. In summer the average temperature is over 30 degrees, and sometimes it happens that it may rise to about 40 degrees. There are a number of restaurants, pubs and hotels in Qawra – and all along the beach there is a beautiful beach promenade.
In Qawra there is a large monument in honor of John F. Kennedy, and around this monument is a popular park with restaurant and romantic walks.
Among the attractions on the seafront there is a Stone Age temple and several other archaeological sites (the so-called Dolmen-excavation). Around discovery Square is New Dolmen Hotel, and to see the temple, one must pass the hotel lobby.
Qawra Tower on the coast in the northeast part of the city is one of the many towers that Knights of Malta have listed. Today it is a restaurant in this tower.
