The modern big city of Perth is located on the southwest coast of Australia by the Indian Ocean, and is the capital of the state of “Western Australia”. Perth has 1.7 million inhabitants (2010), situated at the river “Swan River”. The town is very isolated, and there are over 2000 km from Perth to the nearest metropolitan Adelaide.
The city center is marked by a mix of skyscrapers and historical buildings, and there is good shopping in the boutiques and department stores.
Perth has a sunny, subtropical climate and is also famous for its beautiful white sand beaches.
Some of the most popular tourist attractions include “Swan Bell Tower” – a 85 meter high tower with 18 bells known as “the world’s largest functioning chime”, the island Heirisson Island in the river “Swan River” with its free-ranging kangaroos, recreation area “Kings Park” – where there are panoramic views of the city and River and zoo “Perth Zoo.” A little outside of town is also a large and beautiful aquarium.
The city’s international airport – Perth Airport – located 18 miles northeast of downtown, is the 4th largest in Australia.
