Karup’s a small town in central Jutland with no more than 2211 inhabitants (2006). It is 2 ½ mil from the famous and much larger town of Viborg. Fly is in many ways an index for the city. One of the attractions is actually Gedhusvagten Aviation Museum, and in recent years is Karup Airport has been upgraded into a modern airport with several daily flights to Copenhagen, and part charter. An original characteristic of the airport is that a number of contemporary Danish artists have been commissioned to decorate it.
In the Middle Ages, pilgrims flocked from southern Europe to Karup to be healed by Sacred Source, which still can be seen in a private garden at Karup Church (1100).
From Karup the disc runs Karup Å, known from Jeppe Aakjær poetry. There you can rent a canoe and paddle through the moors with many historical sights.
