Cognac is situated south-west of France at carente river, 97 km north of Bordeaux.The city has 21,900 inhabitants (2002). The city is the focal point for manufacturing and export of brandy. Today it has an active cognac production, and the castle has cellar with opportunities for tasting cognac.The castle has a unique location and design and is really worth a visit.
Other tourist attractions include the Old Town (Le vieux Cognac), an area with many beautiful old half-timbered houses. These were built between 1500 – and 1800’s.The old town has narrow alleys and special boutiques.
