Kolding is located on the east coast of Jutland in Region of Southern Denmark, and has about 57,000 inhabitants (2011). The city lies on the River “Kolding Å” – which flows into the Kolding Fjord.
In the center are several pedestrian streets with shops, cafes and restaurants. It is also a few old timbered houses from the late 1500s, otherwise cityscape dominated by modern buildings.
North of the city center is the city’s landmark and major tourist attraction – the royal castle Koldinghus from the 1200s. The castle has been restored and today serves as a museum. Here visitors including see exhibits about the castle’s history, and it is also possible to get up to the observation deck of the tower.
Another attraction in Kolding is “Trapholt”, located at the Kolding Fjord. This is a museum of modern art, craft, design and furniture design. The building is an attraction in itself, and it’s also an exciting outdoor sculpture park.
