Close to Aconcagua in the Andes, which is the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, characterize this quiet town. Wine production attracts a large number of visitors to Mendoza. Argentina is the world’s fifth largest wine producer, and most of the wine produced in Mendoza. The vineyards are beautifully situated on the foothills of the Andes, and the dry climate, with cool nights and warm days make conditions perfect. There are good opportunities to visit the thousands of vineyards, a few kilometres from the city center. In particular, the plump and round malbec wine, Mendoza is known for.
The center of Mendoza can be visited on foot, and is concentrated around Plaza Independencia with its beautiful fountain. The city offers many good restaurants with good selection of Argentine wines.
The nearest airport is Aeropuerto Internacional Gobernador Francisco Gabrielli, more commonly known as El Plumerillo. It is located 11 km north of the city.
