Sunderland is a coastal town in northwest England – In the county of Tyne and Wear.The town is located 15 km southeast of Newcastle and has approx.185,000 inhabitants (2010). Former Sunderland was known as an important harbour city and for its considerable coal exports. The original city of Sunderland, who represents the downtown core, was expanded in 1974 under the name City of Sunderland, who together have around 280,000 inhabitants.
