Eindhoven is located southeast of the Netherlands, and is main town in the province of Noord-Brabant.The city lies on the River Dommel, and has 216,000 inhabitants (2011). Eindhoven is thus Nederlands 5th largest city.
Eindhoven is an important railway junction and is also a commercial and cultural center for the region. Of the city’s most famous buildings are tower “They Admirat” which measures 105 meters. Also future building “Evoluon” from 1966 is a landmark. Evoluon is shaped like a UFO, and serves today as a conference center.
Other popular tourist attractions include Eindhoven Art Museum “Van Abbe Museum” – where you can see works by Picasso, Chagall, Kandinsky and others, MU Art Space – museum with an emphasis on visual art, design and pop-art, DAF Museum – class exhibitions of cars, trucks and buses produced by the car factory Van Doorn from 1928 until today and Philips’ first light bulb factory from 1891 – which is now the museum.
The historic open air museum Eindhoven is also worth a visit. Here you can see the reconstruction of a village as it looked in the Iron Age as well as learn more about how people in the Brabant region lived in the Middle Ages.
The city’s airport, Eindhoven Airport, located 7 miles northwest of downtown.
