Hoofddorp is west of the Netherlands – In the province of Noord-Holland – and the main town in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer.The town has 73,000 inhabitants and is located 15 km southwest of Amsterdam.
Hoofddorp, founded in 1853, right after the lake Haarlemmermeer had been drained. There are thus few historic buildings in the city.
Some popular tourist attractions and sights in Hoofddorp include the old town hall from 1867, the district court in 1911 and the Roman Catholic Church from 1860. In the hall there is also a small theater, an art gallery and a restaurant / café.
The city’s historical museum, located in the old farm “Mentzhoeve” from 1860, also recommended a visit. Here you can learn more about the city and the municipality’s history by looking at the local historical exhibits.
