Agen is located in southwest France – In the Aquitaine. The city has about 36,000 inhabitants and is located on both sides of the river Garonne. A suspension bridge from the 1800s connects neighbourhoods, and the 550 meter long aqueduct “Pont d’Agen” also crosses the river.
Agen is perhaps best known for its cultivation and production of prunes – and is often called the “Prune Capital”.
Agen is an ancient city and has a number of historic buildings from the Middle Ages. The city is also known for its enchanting markets and alleyways.
Among the most popular tourist attractions are such Cathedral “Agen Saint-Caprais” from the 1100s with its bell tower from 1835, the theatre “Ducourneau” from 1906, brick church “Notre-Dame du Bourg” from the 1200s and Art Museum “Museum of Fine Arts Agen.”
It has a collection of paintings, sculptures, and pottery møber artefacts from the Middle Ages until today. The museum is especially famous for its large collection of Spanish works from 1800 – and 1900 – including five paintings by Goya.

The nearest airport is l’Aeroport d’Agen – La Garenne, located 4.6 km southwest of the city. From here there are direct flights to Paris.
