Estepona is beautifully situated on the Mediterranean Sea, and has about 65,000 inhabitants (2011). In the tourist season the population increases significantly. Estepona part of Málaga province and is located in the region of Andalucia.
The city is famous for its inviting beaches, and has 21 km of coastline. The two most famous beaches in Estepona are “Rada” (in the center) and “Cristo Beach”. Estepona is also known for its Mediterranean climate with mild temperatures all year round, and the city is advertising with 325 sunny days a year.
Most tourists come to Estepona for relaxing sunbathing, swimming and beachcombing. In addition, there are excellent opportunities for water sports here.
Other tourist attractions in the city include Old Town – which is relatively well preserved, Los Remedious church from the 1700s, the clock tower “Torre del Reloj” from 1400’s and the castle “Castillo San Luis” from the 1500s. Estepona also has an archaeological museum, a History Museum, and an ethnographic museum. Passengers traveling to Estepona with children should visit the African animal park “Selwo Safari Park”.
In Estepona are several great golf courses, a variety of spa and thermal baths, many tapas bars and restaurants and good shopping – with small local shops and stalls offering textiles and leather goods.
If you drive 30 min. from the city, you can visit Puerto Banos, where you will find a large number of exclusive designer stores such as Armani and Versace.
The nearest airport is Gibraltar Airport located 47 km southwest of Estepona. Another option is Málaga Airport, located 81 km northeast of Estepona.
