Kristianstad is located in southern Sweden, and is part of Skåne.The city is the administrative center of Kristianstad Municipality, and is 90 km northeast of Malmö.
Kristianstad has 35,700 inhabitants (2011). The city is an important commercial and cultural center for the region and an important transport hub.
There are a number of tourist attractions in Kristianstad, including the beautiful church “Heliga Trefaldighetskyrkan” from 1628. The church is built in the Dutch Renaissance style.
Other attractions in the city include Artillery Museum – a military history museum, art museum, arts center – with exhibitions of contemporary art, City Hall from 1891, Djurröd Kyrka from the 1100s, the railway museum, motorcycle museum, the School Museum, the building “Stora Kronohuset” from 1841, “Bastion Konungen” – a recreated 1600s bastion and the city park “Tivoli Gardens” – with spaserstier, bird ponds, playground, theater and water park.
