Skövde is a city and seat of Skövde Municipality in Västra Götaland County in southern Sweden. Skövde is situated some 150 km northeast of Gothenburg, between Sweden’s two largest lakes, Vänern and Vättern, and has a population of 34,466 inhabitants (2010).
Skövde history dates back to the Middle Ages, but because the whole town burned down in 1759, with the exception of a group of houses called whole culture park reserve, there is little that is left. Helens farm located in the center is protected and converted into a museum. Other key locations are Hertig Johan square where Helena’s Basilica.
The town has good shopping opportunities, and the largest shopping center is Commerce with 40 shops and restaurants located at Hertig Johan squares.
