Aabenraa located southeast of Denmark – about 30 miles north of the border to Germany.The city is located in Jutland by “Aabenraa Fjord”, and belongs to Region of Southern Denmark. Aabenraa has approx. 16,000 inhabitants (2010), and is a major port city with charming small-town atmosphere.
Aabenraa is a trading center, and Denmark’s longest pedestrian (1.2 km). Along this route are many shops, squares, cozy cafes / restaurants. In the city’s streets and squares are a number of great sculptures.
Some of the main tourist sites include “Brundborg Slot” – which was founded by Queen Margrethe 1 about the year 1400, Skt. Nikolai Church from the 1200s and the Maritime Museum.
The area has many beautiful beaches, where in summer the city organizes a variety of activities including markets, concerts and a town festival. In addition, there are good opportunities for outdoor activities in the city such as tennis, horse riding, golf, water sports, cycling and fishing.
Theme Park “Summerland South” is located 26 km southwest of Aabenraa, and is a popular attraction for the whole family. It features a water park and a variety of rides.
