The port city of Dubrovnik in southern Croatia in the Dalmatia region – the Adriatic – and has about 50,000 inhabitants (2010).The city is an important cultural center and a popular tourist destination in the summer.

Dubrovnik is famous for its beautiful architecture, beautiful buildings and parks, its pleasant climate and inviting beaches.

From the port of Dubrovnik is a ferry connection to such Ancona and Bari Italy.

The old town of Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is surrounded by a 2 km long and 25 feet high walls, built between 800’s and 1600’s. Walls have full 15 towers and the main tower – Minceta – the symbol of Dubrovnik. Within the city walls is pedestrianized, and is also home to the 300-meter marbled main street of the old town “Placa” or “Stradun”. Otherwise,’s picturesque, steep and crooked streets here.

Old Town’s most famous sights include Dubrovnik Cathedral from 1671 in the Baroque style, the principal palace “Knezev dvor” from 1464, Sponzapalasset from 1522 and two monasteries from the 1300s.

Outside the city walls lies the fortress Lovrijenac, which is also worth a visit. The modern city of Dubrovnik is located on the peninsula Lapad.

The city’s international airport – Dubrovnik Airport – located 22 miles south of downtown.
