Helmond is located southeast of the Netherlands – about 15 km northeast of the city of Eindhoven.The city is located in the province of Noord-Brabant and Zuid-channel Willemsvaart winds through downtown.
Helmond has 88,600 inhabitants (2011), is a modern industrial city with such textile and metal industries. In addition, the city has a rich cultural life with museums that tell the story.
Helmond became a city in 1232, and in the center is the castle “Kasteel Helmond” from the 1300s. Visitors can get into the castle, and there is such a municipal museum.
Other tourist attractions include Helmond City Hall from 1402, Church of Our Lady in 1915, cube houses by “Playhouse Square” in the center (designed by Piet Blom) and the arts “Paalwoningen” – where you can see exhibits of the cubic drawings Piet Blom.
City Park “Warande” is probably a popular attraction and a bit north of Helmond is natural park “Groote Heide” – for those who want to stroll in peaceful natural surroundings.
The nearest airport is Eindhoven Airport, located 21 km west of Helmond.
