Porsgrunn is a city and a municipality in Telemark county located at the end of Telemark watercourse. The city has a population of 35 395 inhabitants.Porsgrunn river divides the city in the east and the west.
Porsgrunn is well known porcelain factory Porsgrunn Porcelain. Most of the production is now closed but still taking it part production. The factory premises are a large factory outlet and it is possible to see the production and decoration of porcelain. There is also a museum with unique and historic artifacts.
Porsgrunn is one of Østlandets main industrial cities and one of the largest industrial jobs, Hydro Porsgrunn Industrial Park, located at Porsgrunn south of the city center.
The city center is ideal for city walks with pedestrian streets, shops, restaurants. It is especially nice to walk along the river promenade. The city has several neighborhoods each with its own characteristics, one of the oldest Osebro with beautiful wooden houses. Another is Bratsberg Brygge is a new and exciting residential area along the canal. City Hall has a long tradition as a meeting place and place of squares commerce and arts. Hall has theater, cinema and café.
Nearby is the beautiful archipelago with several swimming areas, and close to both the mountains and forests.
