Chania International Airport – “Ioannis Daskalogiannis” (CHQ) – is an international airport located northwest of the Greek island of Crete.The airport is located 15 km northeast of the city center of Chania (Khania) – on the Akrotiri peninsula.
The airport serves 1.6 million passengers annually (2010).
It’s great charter traffic at the airport during the summer season (from April – October). In addition, a number of airlines regular direct flights to and abroad – including to destinations Athens, Berlin and Tirana.
Chania Airport has been an international airport since 1974 and has one terminal building. Facilities at the airport are relatively limited, but there’s duty-free shop, souvenir shops, a newsagent and café in the terminal building.
