Bielsko-Biala is a city in southern Poland near the border with the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Previously, the two cities Biala and Bielsko were lying on either side of the rivers. In 1951 they merged, and today the city has a population of 175,513 inhabitants (2009).
The town lies at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, There are good opportunities for both skiing and hiking in the area, especially in the Tatra Mountains.
